Brianna Pippens, also known as Banana Peppers is a visual and performing artist residing in Maryland. While dancing and singing were her first loves in the art realm, visual arts has emerged as one of her passions and priorities on a daily basis. She simply loves to create. Her formal arts training began in high school and weaved throughout college courses, but Brianna really harnessed her skills in drawing, painting and creating mix media works on her own. In college she provided affordable art work to friends and peers on campus, as well as designing tattoos and logos. She was apart of an arts collective called Kings of Genre, where she found a support system of artists and innovators that helped propel her confidence in her work. After graduating from St. John's University for undergraduate and graduate studies, Brianna began to really attempt to share her artwork with a larger audience. She contributed to her first Raw Arts showcase in 2014, followed by contributing to See. Speak. Feel. 2015, and then she did her first solo showcase for her 25th birthday titled Emerge at Pitchfork Studios in Washington DC. Currently Brianna maintains her art between her 9-5 and other music and dance commitments. Her expressive works are a source of pride and restoration. She presents her work with the hopes that she can simply share what she loves to do and hopefully inspire others in some way. While she creates all different types of artwork, her central vision is to show images of self love, self work, pride, emotion and highlighting the seemingly mundane with beautiful colors and soul. From acrylic to digital drawings, Brianna aims to be and organic in style and concepts.
