Top 3 Moments from The BET Awards 2016

This years BET Awards came in with a bang! Don't worry, if you didn't get that chance to watch the performances, speeches, nominees and Prince Tribute it'll definitely be replaying and you can catch them on the BET website.  

Some of the performers featured were Beyonce featuring Kendrick Lamar, Desiigner, Alicia Keys, Usher, Bryson Tiller and the wonderful Prince Tribute's from Stevie Wonder and Tori Kelly, Maxwell, Janelle Monet and Shelia E.

Now let's move on to my favorite moments of the awards.

1. BEYONCE AND KENDRICK LAMAR'S "FREEDOM" PERFORMANCE

Once I saw the formation dancers walk across the stage oh so strong and elegantly I knew it was about to get real. Then the Freedom beat dropped and the lights exploded with bright glee and from then on I was tuned in. There was so much power and creativity put together with this performance, it was truly captivating. When Beyonce and her dancers were dancing fiercely in the water I was like, "Yasss Bey Yasss". Kendrick Lamar rapping his verse held strength as well and there on himself and Bey shared the stage and started off the awards show like no other.

2. JESSE WILLIAMS SPEECH ON BLACK LIVES & EQUALITY


Everything that you have to know about this wonderful speech is in the link below. Watching Jesse Williams deliver once again captivated us all. 

" Ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them. Gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit. The thing is though, the thing is, that just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real. "

3. THE PRINCE TRIBUTE PERFROMANCES

Each performance captivated and held its own. These performances dedicated to Prince weren't just some one moment thing you forget about, nope- it was powerful, intriguing, strong willed and special.
