The Bomber Jacket

The bomber jacket also known as the flight jacket was originally created for military pilots. Pilots would get cold in cockpits, so in September 1917 Aviation clothing board gave out heavy-duty leather flight jackets to the pilots. Leslie Irvin was the first to design the sheepskin-flying jacket.

In 1962 he made a company in the United Kingdom and was the main provider of these jackets for the Royal Air Force during World War 2, the jacket then made its way to America’s military. Fast forward to 1993, it was worn as the “national costume” of the U.S APEC meeting. It turned into the popular jacket for hip hop fashion in the 2000’s and planted its mark on the fashion world ever since. It has made its way back from the dead! This trend was rocked by many of our favorite icons including Will Smith and Marty Mcfly!

This jacket has seeped its way back into our hearts recently by the help of our favorite celebrities. Kylie Jenner has sported plenty of these jackets and has looked amazing doing so.
