Marbled Nails

The beautiful spring and summer trend that's surprisingly simple.

When it comes to nails, it can be hard to come up with something new that you haven't seen a million times. I came across an amazing nail artist (@effynails on ig) and immediately felt inspired, mostly by her amazing marble and watercolor nail designs.

Hers (the inspiration)
Mine (the inspired)

What you need;

You can get these at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, anywhere really, for about $7. (You can do this on your normal nails but it is much more difficult, and close to impossible to let them dry on your hands without messing them up)

 Next you'll need at least 2 colors, one very light shade, (White or off white), and the darker shade. I used this shade by Wet n' Wild, and a White base that had a hint of pink.

And of course, nail clippers, a file, and a clear top coat.

That's it! Now of course you can choose any color you want, before I committed to one color, I tried out two other ones on a large nail.

I went with the green, but it's always safe to practice a few times before making a commitment.

SO, let's get started;

Step 1

Get all of your nails pre cut and filed, and lay them out in order.

Step 2

For this step, you want to put a generous amount of your base onto the nail, you don't want to put a thin amount because it wont be able to mix and swirl together to get the marble effect, but you don't want to do too much because it will cloud everything up and not be as defined as you might like.

Step 3

Spread out the product evenly with a light hand, leaving it thicker than you would do a normal coat. During and after this step, you have to work fast so nothing dries and gets tacky before you dab everything on.

Step 4

You gotta go fast for this step. (Lightly) dab on your dark color, keeping it even, like the 5 side of a dice (die?).

Step 5

Now, its hard to photograph this, so I didn't, but you're going to take the LIGHT nail polish brush, with a little bit of product on it, and stipple the green out, almost like when you're blending your foundation, but more messy and random. Once you've mixed and swirled everything to your liking, you want to carefully place the nail down and let him rest in peace.

And it should look like this sort of hot mess.
But! Once your nails have completely dried, (45m to 1hr) hit them with a top coat, let that one dry, and glue these sweet angels on.

And they should look somewhat like this! It's such an easy diy look, although it takes a little bit of time and effort, the actual art of the nail is not very difficult. Your nails are like lil art canvas, see what you can create!

Try it out and share them with me on Twitter or Instagram (both @kennabbby)

 I hope you enjoyed!
