Meet Rap Artist — Lil' Family

From South West Alief Texas, 21 year old Lil' Family aka Marko KREAM brings us darker, yet mellow and snappy sounds. Family began making music three years ago but his talent was not developed until his new found interest in free styling. While being locked up, cell mates encouraged him to pursue rapping due to his connection and bond with Maxo KREAM in the streets. 

 "We watched street flavor on Saturdays and we just started free styling out of nowhere then I started battling in jail and I killed everybody and niggas was tellin me that I was raw af. So Maxo put me on and told me lets get it." Soon enough, he released his single “addict” (2015) featuring KREAM over a deep bass with fast and slick rhythms.

His music is heavily influenced by rap artist, Gucci Mane as well as the Houston scene such as Trae Z Ro, Big Moe and Big Hawk. 

 The name “Lil' Family” was given to him by OG Bobby KREAM from 5th ward, and has been his name since. “I didn't make up a name and start pushing it like most of these rappers, this name was given to me by the streets”, he says. 

Family released his song “Type Shit” January 2016 inspired by his common usage of the phrase. He's talked about the upcoming video for the song and describes the video to have "crazy visuals and real authentic shit" including the actions mentioned through the song. 

 "I've been just in the streets and mobbin for a while mayne, but now I'm back in my music grind and working hard got a lot of new shit in store. I'm takin Tf over KREAM 2016 all these rappers b lien n they rhymes I'm authentic and it can't get more realer r triller with lil fam".

First tell us about yourself, what is your name? How old are you? Where are you from?

LF: I'm Lil' Family aka Marko KREAM. I'm 21. I'm from South West, Alief, TX. 

Tell us about your song "Type Shit". When did you start making music?

LF: Type shit I wrote in the trap on Kirkwood awhile back. I say type shit all the time and thought one day I should make this a song since I had everybody saying the shit. I start making music 3 years ago but started taking seriously after I drop my song addict got locked up and was free styling. Niggas was saying I should start rapping since Maxo was like my big bro in the streets.

How did you come up with the name "Lil Family"?

LF: Shit ima blood Inglewood family is my set one of the OGs from 5th ward start killing me lil family his name Bobby KREAM og then niggas start calling me that so ever since then that's been my name. I ain't make up a name n start pushing it like most these rappers this name was given to me by the streets.

That make sense, I feel you, your name original. Being from the streets is reflected In all your songs?

LF: Not all of em I make songs for real hustlers too niggas got it out the mud for people that jus live they life without no regrets.

You have any visuals coming out? Any artist you're going to collaborate with? Would you like to continue this another day?

LF: Yea, "Type Shit" video coming soon! I'm not working with no artist but Maxo KREAM and Dash. I don't fuck with rap niggas.

What's your favorite music artist? If you have any, do they help influence your style, or music in anyway?

LF: Gucci Mane, yea he influence me cause I know for a fact he a real nigga who ain't have shit and came up out here and out everybody on.

Is being from Houston also an influence into your music?

LF: Hell yea, Trae Z Ro and Big Moe and Big Hawk was my favorite growing up but I personally fucked with Trae the truth he the stiffest nigga from the west.

What's your goals/plans for 2016?

LF: Drop a mix tape by the end of year n hit 1 million views on any kind of music I drop.
