Bloop!: 10 Songs To Vibe To This Summer.
It's June, and you know what that means...
With summer peaking it's head around the corner, the time has come to finally compile a playlist of what we'll be listening to while were cruising with our friends, rejuvenating ourselves with some well-deserved alone time, or maybe even making some dog days dough. Whatever it is that we choose to do, what we listen to may potentially play a key role in the memories we make on our time off! So without further or do - here's 10 songs that could set the scene for your summer.
1. This Is was What You Came For - Calvin Harris (Ft. Rihanna)
Calvin Harris and Rihanna have once again joined forces to produce a bop for the books. "This Is What You Came For" debuted two weeks before its set release date at Coachella 2016 during Harris' set, later reaching number 9 on Billboard Hot 100. The beat of the song builds up to reveal a strong house influence, coupled with Rihanna's smooth vocals and catchy lyrics. The effervescence of the track makes it a good candidate for a liberating drive- windows down, volume up. (listen to the full song here!)
2. Greek Tradegy - The Wombats
Released in January 2015, "Greek Tragedy" is the lead single from The Wombats' third studio album Glitterbug. The song placed them on the charts, having not been on them for quite some time, and rightfully so. While Greek Tragedy may have a dark underlying meaning, it's combination of enthralling synth sounds, and catchy melodies leave the listener wanting more.
3. Controlla - Drake
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the views of the 6 this summer. Drake dropped his latest album "Views" in April of this year, which includes tracks such as "Hotline Bling" and "One Dance". Controlla has recently begun to climb the charts, equipped with its reggae-riddim inspired feel that's guaranteed to get you moving. (listen to the track here!)
4. 2AM - Bear Hands
After being practically M.I.A. for two years, Bear Hands returned with this gem in early 2016 as the first single from their third album "You'll Pay For This". In comparison to the bands earlier works, 2AM is significantly more laid back, and great for a night spent just hanging around with some friends.
5. Walking On A Dream - Empire Of The Sun
If you weren't vibing to this in 2008 , it's time to make up for it. Empire Of The Sun released Walking On a Dream as the lead single of their debut album - which shares its name with the track. The song practically screams summer fun and adventure, with lyrics like "We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it" and "Never looking down i'm just in awe of what's in front of me".
6. Final Song - MØ
This isn't the final song on the list- but it is Final Song by MØ. Known for Kamikaze and being featured in Lean On and Beg For It, MØ has just released a solo track from her yet to be released album. Final Song - as described by MØ herself- is "about reconnecting with your inner strength. With your inner glow, passion, spirit animal, whatever—the force that keeps us going and doing what we love".
7. Like I Would - ZAYN
Released as the second single from Zayn's debut album "Mind Of Mine", Like I would is accurately described as a "dancefloor-ready R&B jam" (Billboard) and as "Electro R&B" (The Independent). Strap on those dancing shoes and groove to the fixed bass and contagious hook & chorus of this tune!
8. Take a Chance - Flume (feat. Little Dragon)
Flume recently released their second studio album "Skin" on the 27th of May, which includes the track Take a Chance. Flume (Harley Edward Streten) expressed his excitement in working with little dragon, and it truly comes across in the beautifully entrancing track.
9. YOUTH- Troye Sivan
YOUTH is a song from Troye Sivans' debut album "Blue Neighbourhood", and it truly is hard to not get hooked onto its electro beat and melodious chorus. Troye has explained that the track is inspired by "the joy in naivety and being lost".
10. Middle - DJ Snake (feat. Bipolar Sunshine)
Middle by DJ Snake and Bipolar Sunshine has recently taken the radio by storm. The track exudes summertime energy onto its listeners, with a danceable rhythm and glorious vocals done by Bipolar Sunshine. You and your ears will be in a state of complete nirvana after giving it a listen.
