Know Them All: Different Hijab Styles You Can Wear Every Day

In recent months, the fashion industry has gone through some tremendous changes which have made the hijab or the headscarf more of a “fashion statement” that both Muslims and non-Muslims can adopt. The world’s leading brands are hiring hijabi models and selling amazing hijabs while Hijabi bloggers are taking the internet by storm at social media sites by sharing their beautiful pictures in hijab and having millions of followers. All of them have surely been able to catch the attention of non-Muslim buyers.
What amaze me the most are the similarities between Muslim and non-Muslim girls who wear hijab or wish to wear one. While for the Muslim woman, hijab is a sign of her devotion to God and religion, they both also recognise it as a sign of modest, beautiful and unique dressing. Both of them also wish to follow the latest trends and be stylish through the hijab which is indeed commendable. So no matter what your religious views or purpose for wearing the hijab is, if you wish to wear it on an everyday basis then surely you need some ideas about the different styles of wearing it. Those of us who wear it daily, surely know the struggles of coming up with right styles that look good on us. So here are some of the best hijab styles and simple tips to wear them every day.

Wear an Underscarf

Many hijabis do not realise the importance of an underscarf. Unless it’s too hot outside, it’s always a good idea to wear an underscarf as it helps give your face the shape you want and also keeps your hijab in place. Even in the hotter days, I usually prefer wearing an underscarf to cover my hair and then style it with a hijab made of light fabric.

Flowy Hijab

While most hijabis love the tight hijab styles, they can be really difficult to wear in summers. So in such weathers, go for a nice flowy hijab which is beautiful and so easy to learn.

Play with Folds and Layers

This is as much fun as it sounds, simply by changing the arrangement of folds and adding layers to your hijab, you can create a new look every day. You can also use the folds to highlight the best features of your face.

Turkish Style

This style involves pinning the scarf right under your chin with a pointed edge at the top of your forehead. This is perfect for girls with round or chubby faces as it brings length to your face through the draping effect and also emphasises your jaw line.

Ring Style

This is a pretty unique way of wearing your hijab as after you wrap it around your head, you fix its end by making it go through a big ring. The rings are available in such beautiful types and colours that this style is perfect for more formal occasions and parties.

Turban Hijab

This is another great style for hotter days, as it involves tying you hijab around your head, like a turban of course. It’s truly chic and comfortable however it’s only weak point is that it doesn’t cover up your neck and chest. If you’re not ok with this then you can always use an additional scarf, preferably a chiffon one for this purpose.

Flower Wrap Style

One of the most girly and classy hijab styles to exist as you use your hijab to create beautiful flower shapes. There are variations to this style with a number of online tutorials available to help you quickly learn them all.

Simple Braided Hijab

Who needs accessories when you have your hijab? This style can be used to create a braided effect and also helps you tie up your hijab without the need for pins. It’s rightly known as the wrapunzel hijab and is ideal for all the creative hijabis out there!

Spanish Hijab

This is perfect for when you are running late and don’t have a lot of time to spend in setting up your hijab. It’s actually the quickest and easiest hijab style as you simple tie the ends of your scarf behind your neck and hence you don’t have to fuss over setting the folds or pinning the hijab.
Last but not least, always choose the right color for your hijab by keeping your skin tone, outfit and the weather in mind. For instance, if you want to have a tanned look then wear a hijab that’s one or two skin tones lighter than yours. For spring season, I recommend floral hijabs or go for plain pastel colored hijabs. Keep the bright colors for winters and the shades of maroon and burgundy for fall. Also make sure that your under-scarf complements the color of your hijab and never ever be afraid of accessorizing your hijab with colorful and beautiful accessories. No matter what style you choose, always remember to love yourself and be confident to express yourself the way you want!
