Rihanna's Swagger Jackers: Give Black Girls Their Credit

As people of color we are innovative. We’ve always danced to the beat of our own drum. We have been ridiculed for being different for centuries.  Our features cause inhumane slurs to be said to us. Our wide noses, full lips and figures are always taunted.

As of lately the tables have turned. The same individuals who shunned us wish to look like us. They attempt to copy our beauty routines and fashion is no different. Each time we create something its stolen from us and we watch in confusion as others get recognition for it.

Rihanna is the definition of bad ass. She has a rebellious soul that displays through her fashion choices. She isn’t afraid to be unique. Following the masses has never been a thing to her.

A couple of years ago Rihanna started wearing night wear as ensembles to events and also for every day wear. She stunned the world with the bold choices. She revamped a trend from the 90's and put her own special spin on it. No one was wearing night wear out as as a statement but her.

Here’s Rihanna at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards shining bright like a diamond. She resembles a perfect angel.

After fascinating us there she continued to amaze us with this new signature look. She made some of her choices chic by adorning them with pumps, or what ever her heart desired while she made others street by adding hats or comfortable sneakers.

Now the Kardashian-Jenner clan have followed suite and are inspired by Rihanna. They've attempted to copy Rihanna's looks and now they're receiving all the praise. The media is buzzing about how unique the family is and everyone is raving about the trend they've started. Here's pictures of the family below.

I'm not here to bash anyone or frown upon this family. I blame the media for never doing their research. I blame the media for never giving Black Women their bragging rights in fashion.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and it's amazing when others are inspired by what you wear, but all I ask is to give Rihanna her credit. Give black girls their credit it's long overdue.
