Dame: The Game Has Changed
"People should pay attention to me cause of everything I say is 100 percent real. No fake shit, I'm just me an its all from my heart." Coming from Grandview, Missouri 20 year-old Dame is in college getting his degree in journalism. When he isn't in class perfecting his writing skills Dame is four feet deep in the rap game. Spitting words that have people locked in his world "I tell it vivid ,you niggas scripted," raps the young lyricist on his latest single 100 Missions. The single was released last week and shows Dame's true talent from bar flow to beats. Learn all about the up and coming emcee below.
Hudson: How do you feel about the Hip-Hop scene today?
Dame: I feel like the Hip-Hop scene is in a good place right now. I feel like its so much dope music coming out all over the map.
Would you say that there is a difference between an artist and a rapper?
In my opinion an artist is someone that sings, and raps. drake would be my example of an artist. A rapper is a straight lyricist like a Jay-z, Nas, or Eminem
It is still the new year, what are some things that you would like you to accomplish?
Its only June and my goal so far has been taking over my city and really building myself up as a brand. By the years end I'd like have my music outside of Missouri as well.
How long have you been making music? Also would you say that you have seen growth in your work? I've been making music for 7 months now and I think I sound more confident than I did when I first started, also my lyrical content is progressing.
What do you plan to do when you make it?
I'm goin crazy when I make it, me an all my brothers is touring, doin shows an just living life.
What is one thing that you must have when your in the studio?
I gotta have all my niggas there cause they honest wit me when I'm sayin some bullshit.
Where do you see yourself in two years?
I see myself nationally known in two years, touring the world
What is one thing you want people to know about you after they read this?
I want people to know that I'm a regular nigga, I just got a talent that I6 was blessed with
What advice would you give to those that are pursuing the music game? Advice I would give is just be you and don't be afraid to take that leap.
It's fly or die for a lot of artists out here, if music doesn't work out for you do you have a back up plan? I'm in college right now trying to get my degree in journalism so if music doesn't work out I'll go into radio, but I know its gone pop off for me.
You have a new song called "100 Missions" can you describe the process of making that record? Man, 100 missions took a while to write just because I was so busy with finals, but I found the beat and threw out like 3 different choruses before finally getting the idea. Once I got the chorus making the verses was easy.
What can fans and onlookers except from you this upcoming year?
This year I'm going to be working on an album titled "one luv" sorta a sequel to my "mad luv" mixtape. 100 missions is the first single off of that and ill be just writing and recording for that for the next few months. my goal is to drop it on new years eve.
How do your parents feel about your music?
My dad is secretly proud of me but we don't talk about it, my momma be showing hella love she fuck wit it heavy.
What does "The Come Up" mean you?
The come up is you rise to the top. The come up is everything cause that's when you lose friends, gain enemy's its important.
