Art & Visuals
All the way from Guatemala to Houston, Pablo Recinos shares bits of his story and what has built him up as a person and as an artist. His well-rounded interests derive from his admirable good taste in anything artistic or expressive. It is very rare to find someone as subconsciously committed to what is creating and developing quality work with intellectual messages.
Tell me about yourself, and a little about what you do!
PR: Alright, my name is Pablo Recinos. I'm 22 year old Scorpio born and raised in Guatemala until I was 12. Then moved to the south west side of Houston. I'm an all around artist. I paint, photograph, film and direct videos, and have a great ear for music; sometimes I do my own. If there is another art craft, I probably have tried it or do it now.
How did you get into art and visuals?
PR: Well I've been an artist my whole life. Art has always been a major topic in my life in one way or the other, so I feel like I was born for it. I've always enjoyed watching good action and science fiction movies.. non in specific, but my mind is often outside of the box when it comes to visualizing images and videos.
I focus on bringing the art and portray it though the visuals. It's always a deeper meaning inside my art than what you see.
Would you consider movies as an inspiration? If not, what are your other inspirations?
PR: Yes, movies are definitely an inspiration. People always say "my life is like a movie" but I look at it as a movie is supposed to be real life. A lot of things inspire me. Life itself inspires me. I like to be in tuned with my surroundings to be able to feel and understand the world. Walt Disney, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso.., I'm a mixture of these I feel like they all have amazing points and messages throughout their art, even if they didn't know it back then.
How would you say you express messages throughout your art?
PR: It's more of a subconscious thing with me. I find my purpose in this world to be a messenger with my art so I just let my mind create. You'll find many messages in my art more so relating to life and the many fears/stages we go thru and also more about consciousness within yourself and God. We're all one in this world when we come together, but we battle everyday to be different. Life is a big paradox.
How long do you usually take to finish a painting?
What's the tools you use?
PR: It depends. Some paintings I take breaks in between during a week or month process. I used all types of tools. Paper, paint, markers, glass, spray paint, anything I can get creative with.
Any goals for the future?
PR: To maintaining the artistic vision alive for everyone and be able to provide for a family in the future. A big family. Big big family. The main goal is to push God's great word for everyone. He saved me by making it able for me to be an artist and help inspire others to innovate and create for a better world.
What experiences and situations have molded you into the artist you are today?
PR: There're many... my life has be strange from the beginning. My father died when I was 2 years old and I never got to meet him, I always wondered what life would be like if he were still alive, but I know I shouldn't worry about it because look at where I'm at now. Living in Guatemala was crazy. Then living here in Houston and getting kicked out my parents house after high school to living in my car.. it turned me into a hustler and believer. Ever since that day I haven't stopped chasing this dream.
What's something you would like for people to know about you?
PR: I'm a down to earth creative that truly lives his life to be an artist and create everyday. I believe time doesn't exist so there is no hour in the day I'm not awake and creating.
