Being A Hijabi Trendsetter.

HIJABI-TRENDSETTAS

For those of you who don't know a hijab, vaguely described, is a headscarf which is a profound act of modesty.

For me Hijab is my reality check and confidence booster. It makes me feel unique when I stand in a room of people.I mean of course I'd stand out when I'm the only one wearing a head scarf on my head.

My name is Deqa Hussein. I am East African decent and hijabi Muslim, born and raised in California. When I was growing up I didn't really have the exact urge to wear my hijab. As a child I seen it more as something I had to wear at the moment because everyone else was wearing it. It wasn't until my teen years where I fully understood my purpose and as to why hijab was a big part of me.

Let's fast forward to high school, where everyone molds into their genuine individual self. In these 4 years everyone learns to express themselves more vibrantly. This is when I fell in love with my religion even more, my hijab, and most importantly the movement of fashion I  love creating outfits alongside my hijab, which I hope sparks ideas for people. I have always had a love for cloths, especially drawing and designing them. The thing I love most about fashion is that individuals can articulate themselves through their own unique style. I loved seeing how everyone would put stuff together because of how THEY liked it.

Through social media I got to connect with a lot of people with the same love for fashion and same attributions. Tumblr has always been a huge part of me. Blogging one their is my favorite thing to do literally everyday LOL. You come across so many different things, people, scenery. It is amazing. Instagram is another social site where I express myself a lot. I love coming across beautiful individuals who do the same on their too. It brightens up my day seeing women empower eachother through many different forms like poetry/writing and of course make up tips!

In conclusion, my hijab taught me self love in various ways. It taught me to contribute my aspirations with my hijab and be an awesome muslim gal while doing so. You can be beautiful while rocking your hijab, trendsetters!  I wear my veil because Islam taught me that my beauty is precious.  Also, fashion taught me that you can express yourself in any form you desire.
As Blair Waldorf said, "Fashion is the most  powerful art there is,it's movement, design, and architecture all in one,it shows the world who we are and who we'd like to one day be."
