Protective Styles to try for the Summer Time

Up keeping your hair overtime can get tiring and take so much time to do. My fellow black girls understand. Want to try a new hairstyle? Want to protect your hair? Want to save time getting ready in the morning? Well then this post is definitely for you!

LET'S GET IT POPPIN!!!

    BOX BRAID BOB

Jada Pinkett-Smith and Brandy was one of the first people I came across who rocked the box braid bob. This style may only work with people who have shorter hair but still could pass with people who have longer hair. You can change the thickness, width, size, length and make it your own!

   FAUX LOCS

Ever wanted to see how locs would look on you without the commitment? Well this look is for you girl! You can use Kanekalon hair, Marley hair or yarn for this hairstyle, but yarn would be your best option its not as shiny and soaks in product better for hair moisture. You can take this look to different levels - like a faux loc bob like the box braid bob, thick, thin and etc.

   BANTU KNOTS

No, these are not called mini buns as some appropriators would say. Their Bantu Knots boo! Super easy to do, all you have to do is part your hair however you please, grab that section and twist until it's a little tight but not too tight! Then it will naturally want to turn so then just keep wrapping your hair around that section. You can tuck your end around the Bantu Knot and it will naturally stay, but if not you can get a bobby pin to secure it. To make it look even cuter you can add some loc jewelry to some of the sections like the picture above.

    HEADWRAPS

This style features many different colors, patterns and ways to wrap your hair in a head scarf. If you're having a bad hair day and don't want to much a effort to your look try a headwrap! It literally takes a couple of minutes. Since some of the scarves may involve cotton fabric you can put a silk scarf or bonnet to help your hair maintain moisture being that cotton takes away moisture. Have fun!

MARLEY TWISTS

You could also do Senegalese Twists they're pretty similar to Marley Twists but different thickness and kind of hair used to do them I believe.  Be daring and try a bold color!

  CROTCHET BRAIDS

This style involves having cornrows but the adding hair to them via the crotchet technique. You can't go wrong with this one! You can do braids, twists, locs, curly hair, straight hair. Anyway you want them! It's creates less pulling and strain if you were to just to do the styles listed before individually.

CORNROWS

You can never go wrong with cornrows. You can braid cornrows in different widths, thickness and patterns. Alicia Keys' braids with the beads is definitely my go to look for the summer. You can pair cornrows into a low bun or a higher bun as well. Go ahead and try this look, you won't regret it, go long with it or short.

WIGS

Wigs are the greatest of all time. They are one of the best creations on this earth. With wigs there's many different options there's lace front wigs, half wigs, full wigs and etc. I love my wigs I feel like with wigs you can take care of your hair better especially if its a half wig you can plop it on in seconds and still be able to moisturize your hair properly. Some wig brands range from Freetress, Equal, Bobbi Boss, Janet Collection, Friday Night Hair and so much more the list goes on. You won't regret the wig life.
